Kindergarten Wrap-Up: Fall Break

I didn't originally schedule a true "Fall Break" into our school year, but this week seemed like a good time to take one. It's kind of amazing just how much he learned and accomplished while simply hanging out and playing.

Okay, so this one is more me than Robbie, but I finally got our Memory Work Box set up the way I want. It closely resembles the one from The Adventures of Bear. I added a set of tags by subject to hold future memory work. In addition to his memory work in school subjects, I've included his AWANA verses and his All About Spelling cards (I will be removing the word cards eventually, since the words are all in the Teacher's Guide. They will soon have their own box.) We won't officially be using this until Monday, so I'm excited to see how it goes.

We played some Rightstart Math Games together.

Robbie also learned how to play Yahtzee. (Yes, he drew on his hands. I don't mind... he's washable.)

Mario and Luigi were his teammates.

Toad and Koopa Troopa were mine.

The Mario Brothers each had their own unique way of rolling the dice.

Science consisted of nature walks, books and PBS Kids shows.

We had a blast applying his map-reading skills into a 3-D play area. We used his road rug and his Imaginext buildings to create a "town". His "guys" lived in the buildings and drove Hot Wheels cars.

We gave each other directions or asked leading questions regarding left/right, streets, intersections, etc. It was so much fun.

He drew Luigi...

... and Bowser.

Robbie was so excited to earn his Hang Glider Wings and first blue jewel at his AWANA club this week.

Of course, he also played for the sake of playing most of the time. I managed to snap a few shots of him when he dressed up as both a Knight and as Mr. L.
