Robbie began his study of his five senses this week. We're having to stretch this out to two weeks because this was a short (3 day) week for us. We used some worksheets in his Brainquest K Workbook and read from his Flip Flap Body Book.
On the day we learned about his sense of sight, we made a lego eye. To show him how light enters his eye, we removed the "pupil" legos and shined light through the hole. He dictated to me what he had learned about sight (which I wrote down in his journal) and then he drew pictures. (You can see his geometric solids we had used while talking about rods and cones on the table.)
The next day, we read about his sense of hearing. We made a model of an eardrum using a glass, a coffee filter and a rubber band. We recorded what he had learned. We should be finishing up the five senses this coming week.

I love your model ideas and his journal entries.
ReplyDeleteVery nice! I love the idea of a Lego eye - very creative. We are going to do an eardrum as well here this week.
ReplyDeleteThat lego idea is very creative, I agree. My kids would love this.
ReplyDeleteThanks for linking up this week!
The flap book was a hit here when we had it! Glad to see you back in action too!
