I've been noticing more and more that people rarely leave comments (on most blogs I read, not just my own) without advertising their own blog. Does no one comment without ulterior motives anymore, or am I simply behind the times?
Don't get me wrong, I love feedback and I usually will click on the user's name to find his/her blog(s). I don't even mind the link being left in the comment, as that makes finding the blog a bit easier. I was just wondering if this was the new norm.... to give a short, generic comment, then tell the blogger that you're following him/her and then ask for the favor to be returned with a long description of why the blogger should visit your blog.
P.S. If this came across as snotty, I apologize. I am very rushed at the moment and the past few days have been very stressful and hectic (and not your typical "Thanksgiving rush" kind).

Please feel free to leave a comment or idea. I find most of the blogs that I follow through the comments on my own blog. No need to sign in, anonymous comments are welcome, too!! I would love to hear from you!
Don't forget to click the Notify Me box. I try to reply to all comments. Clicking this box will let you know when I do.

I think it stems from all these new "follow me" blog hops. I personally don't participate because I would rather have a true readership and those who leave genuine comments than lots of readers. Leaving genuine comments on other's blogs sets a good example and often is returned. It is also how to build genuine blogging relationships in my experience.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your turkey day and be blessed! :-)
I've seen that from time to time too, and it's weird to me as well.
ReplyDeleteI think there are still a lot of bloggers who do not advertise and the ones that do I just ignore.
ReplyDeleteI agree! I too think there are so many blog hops out that everyone is doing it! I just popped by to check out your blog! :) I come back from time to time...i love all the tot school ideas! :)
ReplyDeleteI have had a couple of people do this on my blog and it certainly was very odd to me. I did click on their blog to see what it was about, but I will never follow someone who makes a habit of this...it's just too weird for me. I'm glad you posted this because now I know that I am not the only one put off by this practice. :)
