Pirate Day!!

We declared last Friday as "Pirate Day" in our home.
I located many of our pirate-y things and brought them down into our main living area.

Here are a few of the things we did...

Weekly Wrap-Up: Summer Edition #10

Since Robbie spent half of this week at my parents' house, there's not much to tell. Once he was home, we did the three R's... but mostly we just hung out and had fun.

Weekly Wrap-Up: Summer Edition #9

We're just a few weeks away from our first official day of Kindergarten. I'm finalizing our plans and scheduling out our first week. I've decided to keep a subject-by-subject guideline for the year, but to only schedule one week at a time.

After the trip back from our family reunion and getting settled back in, we didn't seem to have the energy to actually do any scheduled schoolwork this week. Of course, we still did educational things, but most of them were spur-of-the-moment.

Weekly Wrap-Up: Summer Edition #7

We're currently in Wild, Wonderful West Virginia at a family reunion, so I scheduled this to post before we left on Tuesday evening. Needless to say, our week was short. Robbie was attending VBS with his cousins last week, so I've included some photos from then, as well.

Weekly Wrap-Up: Summer Edition #6

I know I skipped posting last week, but the holiday messed with our schedule and there simply wasn't much to blog about. That is why a few of these pics are Independence Day related.

Robbie and I fell out of our groove a bit with schoolwork this past week. It may not look like it, judging by the pictures, but it's true. We DID have fun, though.

Weekly Wrap-Up: Summer Edition #4

Robbie was at my parents' house for the first part of the week, so this was mostly a "play" week. We did manage a few school-ish things, though.

Here's a look at our week... or, at least the photos I managed to capture of our week.

Robbie is simply spelling random words and phrases from Level 1 of All About Spelling as I dictate them to him. I hope to be able to buy the next level soon, although I'm sure all of this review isn't hurting anything.

Greater, Less Than or Equal with Dominoes

Robbie liked our math game yesterday. He would take two dominoes and use our greater/less than or our equal to symbols after tallying each domino.

If he looked irritated in the last picture, it's because he was anxious to get to this. He really did enjoy the math activity.

What domino games are popular in your home?

Weekly Wrap-Up: Summer Edition #2

Since it's Summer, I've shortened our daily task list to just the basics for school. It's making it much, much easier to actually complete our work. We joined our local homeschool group and met some of them for their weekly park day. We had so much fun (both of us). I didn't get any pictures of that.. maybe next week.

Weekly Wrap-Up: Summer Edition #1

This week was a week of activities, parties, ballgames and more...
we didn't actually do enough schoolwork to blog about.

Robbie, Tyler and Jayden had a big birthday blowout at my parents' pool. There were many water guns to be had... no dry person on the deck was safe.

Weekly Wrap Up

Well, this will be the last Weekly Wrap-Up while Robbie is 4 years old. He will turn 5 on the 30th. I'll still consider him to be in Pre-K until September, but it's weird to think of having a five year old.

Robbie's New Favorite Subject

Robbie has been begging to do spelling... a subject I originally wouldn't have dreamed of starting this early. My son's desire to write changed my mind. I want to do my best to stop bad spelling habits before they start.

After reading all the hype regarding All About Spelling, I was sure it was too good to be true.

All Day Science Play

Science Corner

We have a membership to the local children's museum and took Robbie there for a day of fun. It wasn't until I got home and really looked at the photos I snapped of Robbie that I noticed how much hands-on science he was experiencing that day.

Weekly Wrap Up
I was really pants at taking pictures this week.

I am slowly incorporating items from his upcoming Kindergarten curriculum, but I won't consider him a "Kindergartener" until this September. Between now and then, I hope to iron out a schedule (something I'm not great at) and get him used to being required to do school

Making bricks...

I'll post more about it soon.

Robbie's Super Mario Bros. Lapbook

Robbie's love for this lapbook makes me wonder if we shouldn't do more of them.

Robbie asked if we could have a Super Mario Brothers week again, so that's what we did!
