It's been a few years since we've had a calendar as part of our school day. I gave it up due to space issues and the fact that Robbie had a good grasp of the concepts. I've wanted to add it back in and have been struggling to find something that will work for us. I think I've done it!!!
I didn't originally schedule a true "Fall Break" into our school year, but this week seemed like a good time to take one. It's kind of amazing just how much he learned and accomplished while simply hanging out and playing.
Yes, Robbie's official kindergarten year is finally underway. (Honestly, it feels like it will be our third year of kindergarten.. lol!) We had a sudden death in my immediate family, so our year has started off a bit more slowly than I'd anticipated, but we're getting there.
Since Robbie spent half of this week at my parents' house, there's not much to tell. Once he was home, we did the three R's... but mostly we just hung out and had fun.
We're just a few weeks away from our first official day of Kindergarten. I'm finalizing our plans and scheduling out our first week. I've decided to keep a subject-by-subject guideline for the year, but to only schedule one week at a time.
Sadly, we do not have a dedicated school room. Like so many other homeschoolers, we homeschool at the table. Our particular table happens to reside in our eat-in kitchen.
I've been doing a bit of reorganizing over the past few days. It seemed like the best time to take a few photos.
After the trip back from our family reunion and getting settled back in, we didn't seem to have the energy to actually do any scheduled schoolwork this week. Of course, we still did educational things, but most of them were spur-of-the-moment.

Please remember that all children are different and so are their educational needs. What works for one child may or may not work for another. While I hope that any information I provide will be useful, you know your child better than anyone. I wish you the best of luck finding what you need!
