I realize that our lives have seemed to be a bit unstable over the last few months and I've had some questions and concerns posed in my comments. I'll try to give a brief synopsis.
RockerDad lost his job in Tennessee at the end of August and we decided that we were being led/pushed for a change. He has a large extended family in Illinois, so we moved and stayed with family.
RockerDad found a good job up here. Unfortunately, our lifestyle didn't really mesh with the family we were staying with, so we moved to a hotel and started looking for small, affordable apartments.
On Thanksgiving, we were offered a nice portion of his cousin's house to stay in while we save money and find a place of our own. Family members donated furniture, we have decorating freedom (although it will be minimal, since we're trying to save money) and Robbie has a portion of the space to call his own. Our low-key lifestyle really works well in this home as well.
We are extremely grateful to both households for all that they have done for us and will never be able to repay their kindness and hospitality. I'm sad that Robbie has been moved three times in as many months, but we truly believe that we are where we belong while we get back on our feet.
I'll be posting some pics of our space in the near future. I'm trying to stay positive. As a good friend told me a few weeks ago, "...how things are for you right now is not 'how you are raising your son'. It is a blip in the road. It does not define who you are or what you and/or your son will become. It's a hard time of trials and heartache. Things will get better and you will be stronger for having gone through this. It may not seem like it right now. Don't despair."
What your friend said is very true! I moved 12 times in 18 years growing up and feel that I did ok. Your son will be fine :)
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear that life has thrown you so many curve balls lately. It's great that you found a place to stay until you get back to your feet. In the meantime Robbie probably enjoys the snow :)
