Tot-School

Tot School

RockerTot's last week of Tot-School as a 1 year old.

aka ScholarTot

Our letter board was set up with his Magnet School letters and cards. He matched these whenever he felt like it. He also brought me the "M" and told me "M", then turned it upside down and said "W". He thought it was cool.

RockerTot recently received these wonderful pattern blocks (thanks, Jenny!) and I made him these simple cards to see if he could grasp the concept of creating pictures with them...

... he understood right away. I'm going to make him some more challenging cards. If you have any ideas, please let me know!

He spelled his name with bottle tops.

I made him an intro to future smelling activities. I placed a teaspoon each of coffee, ground black pepper, and ground cinnamon into the center of coffee filters and sealed them each with a rubber band.

He loved smelling them and trying to identify them. He even tried to combine their aromas.

He glued an "f" to a page for his Alphabet Notebook.

He then added fish and flower stickers.

He "strung" pieces of drinking straws onto these dowels.

I thought he might try to match the colors, but he didn't. I'll let him come to that conclusion on his own.

aka ApprenticeTot

We made muffins (from a mix) together.

I couldn't photograph the process, but he added each ingredient, stirred, then tasted. He looks forward to any opportunity to wear his apron.

He learned how to use the can opener. I started the cut and drained most of the liquid to minimize frustration and mess. He opened a little more than half of the can by himself! He was so proud.

He's still a big help with loading and unloading the dryer.

RockerTot is learning to save his money.

Just Plain RockerTot

If some of these activities look like they should have been placed under the "ScholarTot" header, it's because they would normally be Tot-School tray activities. I, however, did not bring these activities out for RockerTot... he brought them to me. Since he asked for them, I labeled them as "play".

RockerTot and his cousin, Mal, feeling the rain coming down after they finished swimming in Mamoo & Papa's pool.

.... mix & match vehicles puzzle ...

... numbers puzzle ...

... cars (the favorite - he will play quietly with cars for more than an hour at a time) ...

He built a 14 block tower (it collapsed when he tried to add number 15).

He then decided to build this double tower.

He loves this alphabet puzzle book.

He cried for this lacing card... I didn't think it was what he was crying for.

RockerMoms Fave Photos

He said "cheese" without being prompted and held the (fake) smile. It was the first time he had done either of these.

  1. Wow I am really impressed with all that Rocker tot can do. My little one is 23 months now and I don't think she could have done the matching the shapes to picture activity...way to go!

  5. He's so adorable! I love your alphabet puzzle. It is like a book. Where did you find that? I never thought of introducing the can opener to Bear, but that is a great idea.
